Hamdi Fathy's Al Wakra Win Qatar Cup

Egypt International and the former Al Ahly star Hamdi Fathy captured the title of Qatar Cup with his team Al Wakra, on Saturday.

Al Wakra defeated Al Rayan 1-0 in the tournament final at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium. Al Wakra's Nasser Saleh Al Yazzidi scored the game's goal.

The official account of the club on X praised Fathy and his role with the team, posting: "When Hamdy is here, so, championships are on the way."

This title is the first Qatar Cup title for the team, and the second in their history after capturing the title of the Qatari All Star League of 1999-2000 season. In addition, this title is the first for the team's in 25 years.

Fathy's Al Wakra advanced to the final after defeating Al Sad 6-7 by penalties after a 2-2 draw in the semi-final.

On the other hand, Al Rayan reached the final of the tournament after defeating Al Gharafa 2-1 in the semi-final. 

Last July, the Qatari Al-Wakrah club, officially, announced the arrival of Al Ahly's midfielder Hamdi Fathy for three seasons.

Al Ahly will receive $ 3,250,000, after passing the medical exams, in addition to a $ 500,000 bonus.

The deal also includes 20% for Al Ahly in case Al Wakrah decides to buy the player in the future, and Al Ahly's priority to get the player back in case Al Wakrah decides to buy the player to an Egyptian club.
