Japanese Ambassador Awards Renowned Opera Singer Reda El-Wakil

Renowned Egyptian opera soprano Reda El-Wakil received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Japanese Embassy, presented by Oka Hiroshi, the Japanese ambassador to Egypt.

El-Wakil received his degree from Cairo's Conservatoire, the Higher Institute of Music. He studied abroad in Spain and France before returning to Cairo in the late 1980s to participate in prominent opera productions, including "Aida," "The Marriage of Figaro," and "Madame Butterfly."

He took part in several opera performances overseas in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, and other countries from 1994 until the beginning of 2010. 

Throughout his career, he won numerous awards including the State Encouragement Award for Literature and Arts in addition to the International Paris Competition. 

In relation to his ties to Japan, El-Wakil has taken part in numerous musical concerts to commemorate the anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011, as well as events promoting recovery and reconstruction.
