World Gold Council: Egyptians' Gold Purchases fall to 13.2 Tons in Q1 2024

Egyptians' gold purchases (jewelry and bullion) fell by 17% during the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period last year, according to a report by the World Gold Council issued today.

The report said that the volume of Egyptians' gold purchases during the first quarter of this year amounted to 13.2 tons of gold, compared to 15.8 tons during the first quarter of 2023.

The report added that despite the decline in purchase volume in the first quarter of the current year, it is better than purchases in the fourth quarter of last year, which amounted to about 11.5 tons of gold.

The World Gold Council report revealed that Egyptians' purchases of gold jewelry during the first quarter of the year amounted to 8 tons, an increase of 3% over purchases in the first quarter of 2023, which amounted to 7.7 tons, and came better than purchases in the last quarter of the year. last year at 6 tons.

While Egyptians' purchases of bullion and gold coins during the first quarter of 2024 amounted to about 5.2 tons, a decrease of 36%, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to about 8.1 tons.
